Illustrative attributes are those you accept may vary, such as slight surface texture or natural color variation if that is acceptable for the product.
Put those distinctions in plain language on a Sample Approval Form and in the Product Quality Control Plan. Name the sample with an ID, record the date, capture key photos, and note the specific parts of the product the sample represents. This prevents a later argument that the supplier must match every single cosmetic or incidental detail.
